Lake County Center for Independent Living

What We Do

The Center for Independent Living is a non-residential, cross-disability 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides services directly to people with disabilities of any age in Lake and McHenry Counties. We provide various programming under five core services: information and referral (I&R) about our services and community resources, independent living skills training, advocacy assistance, peer mentoring and support groups, and transition services for youth and adults in institutional settings. We provide these services in order to help people with disabilities to lead independent lives and be valued members of the community, by learning how to do things for themselves.
