Description: In this highly interactive 3-hour training, participants will be introduced to methods and strategies for ensuring accurate, succinct documentation required in a frontline-service setting. Participants will complete relevant exercise, identify and implement the
necessary steps to transform client interactions into useful documentation, and learn the legal and organizational requirements of case notes.

Modalities: The training will be 40% didactic and 60% experiential. Activities will include both large group demonstrations, solo writing, and small group breakout sessions. Materials will include a presentation, video demonstration, and a handout.

Goal: To learn and practice writing Service-Centered Case Notes based on Treatment Plans. Terminal

• To transform client and family interactions into useful documentation.

• To write succinct, accurate, and timely case notes.

• To balance legal, ethical, and organizational objectives in case note documentation.

About Sarah Suzuki
Sarah is certified MINT Trainer and the founder of Chicago Compass Counseling, a group practice dedicated to serving the family system through inclusive, evidence-based behavior change counseling.
As a speaker, Sarah enjoys presenting ideas that ignite and inspire. Sarah’s dynamic presence and highly interactive style has made her a highly-sought national speaker, trainer, and consultant. As one of the first international members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers to participant in developing the MINT Certification Trainer Process, she serves as a leading voice in the implementation of Motivational Interviewing practices across organizational settings. After completing graduate studies at the University of Chicago in 2009, went on to Motivational Interviewing training and consultation to students, interns, program administrators, researchers, executives, and direct-level staff.
