This session will engage participants in examining the role of culture in engaging with clients, colleagues, and issues related to mental health. The group will apply the Intercultural Communication approach and Cultural Dimension Model to understanding the complexities of human interactions (communication, conflict resolution, trust-building, etc.).

Participants will:
• Explore cultural aspects in conceptualizing and approaching mental health/illness;
• Examine a process of human interaction from an Intercultural Communication perspective.
• Apply the Cultural Dimensions Model to gain new insights into their experience of working across cultures.

Presenter:

Tatyana Fertelmeyster is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and an Intercultural and Diversity & Inclusion consultant with extensive expertise in complexities of cross-cultural adjustment, team building, and conflict resolution. Tatyana is a Senior Facilitator for Personal Leadership Seminars and a Lead Trainer of Trainers for Cultural Detective. Tatyana is the past president of SIETAR USA (Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research) and is recognized by her colleagues in the Intercultural and Diversity field as a go-to authority in challenging and complex situations.
