Summary:

A Trauma Informed Approach will introduce you to the concept of becoming trauma informed and explain why this matters. Information about the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences and the related consequences will be discussed. This presentation explains what a trauma informed approach requires, and how neuroscience and genetics have informed this field to create safety, improve outcomes, and begin to implement a trauma informed approach for ourselves and our organizations.

Presenter Bio:

Gary RukinGary Rukin has worked in Community Mental Health for the past twelve years and is currently a mental health therapist at Pivotal Counseling Center in Lake in the Hills. Gary serves as the Trauma-Informed Coordinator for the McHenry County Mental Health Board, and has presented trainings on Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Understanding Psychosis, Understanding and Treating Emotional Trauma, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Thresholds, The Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Recovery Conference, Northwestern University Hospital, and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
